<div style="text-align: left;">
The Benedictine monks of Prinknash Abbey have now published their new schedule of Masses in the Extraordinary Form for 2020. These can be downloaded as a PDF file by clicking the image above.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The Masses are mainly on the first Sunday of the month at 3:00pm, and the third Saturday of the month at 11:00am. There are quite a few exceptions to this, however, so you are advised to check the schedule carefully before travelling!<br />
<br />
As well as a few parking spaces next to the Monastery at St Peter's Grange, there is a large public car park near the entrance to the estate. The Monastery cafe/shop, on the way up the hill to the Monastery, has a very good reputation for its coffee and extensive range of food.<br />

The day began with Solemn High Mass in the Shrine Church. Dom Bede Rowe was Celebrant, with Father James Bradley, of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham, as Deacon, and Dom Anselm Redman as Subdeacon. Charles Bradshaw acted as MC, and the other servers came from around the Diocese<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
The Rupert Bevan Singers provided the music, which included Byrd's Mass for Five Voices.<br />
<br />
The Mass was a votive Mass for Our Lady's birthday, this being the Saturday nearest to the Feast on the 8th September. In his sermon, Dom Bede pointed out that Our Lady had been venerated in Glastonbury since the earliest days of Christianity, and is still honoured around the world, despite all the opposition and persecution that the faithful have suffered.<br />
<br />

<br />
Mass was followed by lunch in the parish hall, after which we crossed the road to the ruins of the ancient Abbey to pray the Rosary in the crypt of the Lady Chapel. The day finished with an hour of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and confessions, followed by Benediction.<br />
<br />
We would like to thank all those who helped to make this pilgrimage possible, in particular Dom Bede Rowe, the Rector of the Shrine and Celebrant of the High Mass, the other Sacred Ministers, Fathers Bradley and Redman, MC Charles Bradshaw, and the Shrine administrator, Kim Woolmer.<br />

<br />
This is because a funeral will be held in the church on the Friday, with the coffin being received into the church the previous evening.<br />

This year's LMS pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady, St Mary of Glastonbury, took place on Saturday 8th September, the Birthday of the Blessed Virgin.<br />
<br />
Father Bede Rowe, the Rector of the Shrine, was the Celebrant at the Solemn High Mass. Father Philip Thomas was Deacon, and Sebastian Crawford, a seminarian with the Institute of the Good Shepherd, was subdeacon. Rupert Bevan and his choir provided the music, which included Byrd's <i>Mass for Five Voices</i> and Tallis' <i>O Sacrum Convivium</i>, as well as the Gregorian chants of the Mass<i>.</i><br />

Fr Rowe preached on the historical and cultural importance of the Glastonbury shrine, which has been in existence since the earliest years of Christianity. He pointed out that the monks across the road at the Abbey, before the Schism of the 16th century, would have known by heart the same Mass of the Blessed Virgin as was being sung at the pilgrimage.<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
The first of the new regular weekly Traditional Latin Masses at Bristol University Catholic Chaplaincy took place today. Father Rupert Allen celebrated a beautiful Low Mass for the Feast of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We would like to extend our thanks to Fr Allen, and to His Excellency Bishop Declan Lang, for bringing the Mass according to the Traditional Roman Rite back to Bristol after a hiatus of sixteen months. Approximately 24 people were at the first Mass, including some who had not attended this form of the Mass in the last 40-50 years.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Mass at the Chaplaincy will continue every Sunday at 12:30pm, unless otherwise announced. All are welcome to attend.</div>
