The annual
Paris to Chartres pilgrimage took place over the Pentecost weekend 7 - 9 June.
There appeared to be a better turnout than last year and the British chapters
were up in numbers, including several from the Clifton Diocese. We were fortunate to have two priests per
chapter with the National Chaplain Fr Martin Edwards and Fr Gerard Byrne with
Our Lady of Walsingham (adult) chapter and Fr Mark Withoos and Fr Alex Redman
(from St Dominic's, Dursley) with the Juventutem (youth) chapter under the
patronage of Saint Alban. Fr Bede Rowe the Chaplain at Chavagnes International College,
France and also from Clifton Diocese led the Chavagnes Scouts chapter. The LMS President Dr Joseph Shaw and Jamie
Bogle President of Una Voce International were also on the pilgrimage.
The weather
was mixed over the three days with periods of bright hot sunshine and
temperatures in excess of 30 degrees Celsius, hail showers, thunder and
lightning and storms with torrential rain. Doubtless to say it made walking
difficult at times especially through the mud!
Overall,
however, the whole experience was spiritually uplifting and many graces were
received during the pilgrimage.
Please see
below some of the photographs of the pilgrimage and who knows you might be
inspired to go next year?
